Jesus Is My Perfect Captain!
Hebrews 2:10, For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
To be the kind of Captain we needed, The Lord Jesus was
required to suffer! Yes, all through His life and especially at Calvary, our
Captain suffered in extraordinary ways we will perhaps never understand. Mental,
emotional, physical, and spiritual anguish became a familiar part of His
repertoire to prepare Him to lead as our “perfect” Captain of salvation (Heb.
2:10). As our Captain He provides us
leadership along the way He pioneered through His Cross. The word “perfect”
means adequate, complete, and qualified. Our Lord endured hardships,
afflictions, sorrows, pains, persecutions, and Calvary qualifying Him to lead a
people who would suffer as He did. Jesus is comprehensively qualified to lead
in every way possible! Beloved, in order to effectively minister to us as a
fully adequate Savior, His travail and grief were essential. To become the understanding
Intercessor a haggard people must look to unfailingly, it was needful that He
suffer greatly. Thus, He is entirely qualified to lead and intercede for us
with compassion as we face the difficulties and rigors of Christian living.
Yes, The Lord Jesus understands our tears, sorrows, agonies, and pains
completely! But, may we all with one voice cry unto Him to, “Lead on, Mighty
Captain, lead on!”
