Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ (Phil. 1:6).
When God saved us initially, He began an extraordinary work to bring us
into the likeness of His darling Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Through the Word
and by His Spirit we venture along a journey of sanctification and
transformation being further conformed to Christ’s great image. Along our
journey we sometimes stumble, fall, stray off course, and even abandoned the trip
for a season. God in His infinite grace still does not abandon us as if we are
a science project that went wrong somewhere. Perhaps we have not strayed so far
off course like some, but we have not ventured very far either…. So we wonder if
God has left us behind concluding we just are not worth the effort. Perhaps we
have stumbled so many times that we are certain God must have thrown up His
hands in absolute exasperation by now! No, no, and no, our Heavenly Father promises to
complete His purpose in our lives and assures us He will. This is His “good
work” in each of His children!

God our Father will persist at this gracious work in our spirits, souls, and bodies until the day when the Lord Jesus comes to receive us unto Himself in the Rapture (1 Thess. 4:13-18). In a split moment and as quick as a mere glint of an eye, we will finally instantly completely and consummately be ‘upgraded'--likened to Jesus Christ in character and body (Rom. 8:29; Phil. 3:20, 21).
